Strong HR managers work to influence organizational leaders and correctly align human resource strategies. They use diversity and inclusion to increase profits, develop a talent management culture, and engage employees. Leadership development training offers HR managers the opportunity to learn more about motivating and engaging employees. Each organization has its own unique practices that are essential to their success. However, most companies require HR employees to have a human resource management certificate.

HR managers take on the responsibility of developing and executing a strategy that is in line with organizational goals and that also matches the company’s goal to deliver tangible outcomes for an organization’s employees, customers, and shareholders. Such a strategy is based on transforming HR from a “business partner” to a “business leader,’ which requires in-depth knowledge of advanced and emerging HR topics. As a leader, an HR manager plays a significant role not only in developing human capital, but also in determining how those assets can contribute to the execution of organizational and business strategies. Obtaining a human resource management certificate allows the individual to develop the leadership competencies required make this transformation possible.

Leadership development training will help HR managers learn to focus on the drivers for transforming HR into a world-class function. Specifically, managers will understand how to influence strategy and organization, align HR strategy, and use diversity and inclusion to achieve bottom-line results. Managers strive to develop a work culture compiled of talented individuals, build strategies for employee engagement, and measure employee impact on business outcomes. Training courses explore each of these topics in depth, with a particular emphasis on the role of the HR leader. Courses focus on industry best practices, and involve short projects that focus on the application to trainee’s particular organizations.

Effective human resource leaders look beyond managing the HR function. Managers do not stop at building the talent pool of the organization; instead, they operate at the most senior levels and play a strategic role in the organization. It is their responsibility to take an active role in influencing the strategic planning process. Since they fully understand the goals and values of the organization, they ensure alignment while managing the process to ensure greater outcomes.

A human resource management certificate offers managers the opportunity to fully understand what goes into creating an organizational strategy for the company. HR managers are not there only to hire and fire employees; they are leaders in the company who are responsible for making sure that strategy is implemented and proper goals are achieved.

A human resource management certificate will add value to an organization’s HR manager. The skills learned during this training will increase proficiency in employment law, employee relations, selection and staffing, and performance management. Additionally, as a leader, HR managers will be able to take an active role in organizational strategy and performance follow up. Human Resources is an evolving and dynamic field that challenges the ability of even the most seasoned professionals. All managers can highly benefit from a combined effort by obtaining a human resource management certificate and completing leadership development training.

Police in the West Midlands in England today said nearly 200 kilograms worth of drugs with value possibly as great as £30 million (about US$49 million or €36 million) has been seized from a unit in the town of Brownhills. In what an officer described as “one of the largest [seizures] in the force’s 39 year history”, West Midlands Police reported recovering six big cellophane-wrapped cardboard boxes containing cannabis, cocaine, and MDMA (“ecstasy”) in a police raid operation on the Maybrook Industrial Estate in the town on Wednesday.

The impact this seizure will have on drug dealing in the region and the UK as a whole cannot be underestimated

The seized boxes, which had been loaded onto five freight pallets, contained 120 one-kilogram bags of cannabis, 50 one-kilogram bags of MDMA, and five one-kilogram bricks of cocaine. In a press release, West Midlands Police described what happened after officers found the drugs as they were being unloaded in the operation. “When officers opened the boxes they discovered a deep layer of protective foam chips beneath which the drugs were carefully layered”, the force said. “All the drugs were wrapped in thick plastic bags taped closed with the cannabis vacuum packed to prevent its distinctive pungent aroma from drawing unwanted attention.” Police moved the drugs via forklift truck to a flatbed lorry to remove them.

Detective Sergeant Carl Russell of West Midlands Police’s Force CID said the seizure was the largest he had ever made in the 24 years he has been in West Midlands Police and one of the biggest seizures the force has made since its formation in 1974. “The impact this seizure will have on drug dealing in the region and the UK as a whole cannot be underestimated”, he said. “The drugs had almost certainly been packed to order ready for shipping within Britain but possibly even further afield. Our operation will have a national effect and we are working closely with a range of law enforcement agencies to identify those involved in this crime at whatever level.”

Expert testing on the drugs is ongoing. Estimates described as “conservative” suggest the value of the drugs amounts to £10 million (about US$16.4 million or €12 million), although they could be worth as much as £30 million, subject to purity tests, police said.

Police arrested three men at the unit on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug. The men, a 50-year-old from Brownhills, a 51-year-old from the Norton area of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, and one aged 53 from Brownhills, have been released on bail as police investigations to “hunt those responsible” continue. West Midlands Police told Wikinews no person has yet been charged in connection with the seizure. Supplying a controlled drug is an imprisonable offence in England, although length of jail sentences vary according to the class and quantity of drugs and the significance of offenders’ roles in committing the crime.

Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton regained the IBF light welterweight title belt he relinquished less than 12 months ago when he defeated Juan Urango in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight.

“The Hitman” won by unanimous decision, as the fight went to 12 rounds. Despite early match odds suggesting Hatton would dominate the fight, this was not the case. Each round was close, but most pundits and judges alike agreed that Urango only won 1 of the 12 rounds, with Hatton taking the other 11.

Despite the unfamiliar confines of Las Vegas, Hatton looked touched by the ringing of football fan-like chants, familiar in British boxing, that rang around the arena, as more than half of it was filled by traveling support from across the atlantic.

Many in the UK will hope Hatton has ended the “curse” that has seen names such as Frank Bruno, Naseem Hamed, Barry McGuigan and others fall short while headlining fights on “The Strip”.

From here, it is widely believed “The Hitman” will move on to fight Jose Luis Castillo in June, again likely in Vegas.

Are your cabinets looking a little worn down and shabby? If so, you may want to revamp the look of your kitchen cabinets by resurfacing them. Refacing your kitchen cabinets is a cost effective way to give them a new appearance. Instead of replacing the entire structure, you can simply replace the surface. Refacing your cabinets will offer a new look for your room and greatly improve the durability of your cabinets. You will be adding years of life to your cabinetry.

Generally, a refacing or resurfacing project will be performed by a professional. The entire project involves replacing the cabinet drawer fronts and doors, as well as adding a new veneer to the base cabinet. The cost will depend on type of wood you want. Prices can range from $4000 to over $10,000. The amount of time it takes to complete the project will also vary. Some projects can be finished in as little as 2 days while others can take up to a week. It usually depends on how large of a kitchen you have.

Refacing your cabinets is a wonderful alternative to replacing them; however, you must make sure that your cabinets are still in good condition first. If the structure of your existing cabinets is in poor condition then you will not benefit from resurfacing them because in time they will need to be replaced anyways. Also, keep in mind that your current layout will not be changed when you resurface so if you are looking for a new layout then you may want to redesign and replace your cabinets all together.

The alternative to refacing your cabinets is to refinish them. Refinishing your cabinets involves painting or staining them. Refinishing your cabinets can prove to be the most cost-effective option, and also offer the best return on your investment. Painting your cabinets is the easiest and least expensive way to create a new fresh look. If you happen to be crafty with your hands then you may be able to save yourself even more money by painting your cabinets yourself, either freehand or by using stencils. Once you finish putting a new layer of paint on, all you have to do is add new drawer pulls and knobs. This entire project can be done for as little as $500.

Bottom line, cabinets are one of the main focal points of a kitchen and for that reason it is very important to keep them looking good. If your current cabinets are starting to look worn down, but they are still sturdy and structurally sound then you may be able to give them a face-lift without spending all the money that you would have to on replacements. Rather than plan an expensive, total replacement of cabinets, consider having your cabinets resurfaced at up to half the cost in material and labor.

A tornado touched down yesterday in Joplin, Missouri, causing widespread damage. At least 89 were killed.

The path of the tornado was reported to be from one half to three quarters of a mile wide. City spokeswoman Lynn Onstot estimated the path to be nearly four miles long; Jasper County emergency management director Keith Stammer put its length around six miles.

You see pictures of World War II, the devastation and all that with the bombing. That’s really what it looked like.

Witnesses described entire blocks of buildings destroyed. Steve Runnels of the National Weather Service said “We have reports of significant structural damage to strong buildings. Automobiles have been flipped, bark was stripped off trees.”

Among the properties damaged was a local hospital, St. John’s Regional Medical Center. Some patients were hurt, and all were evacuated to other regional hospitals. The local high school, Joplin High School, was also hit. Describing the damage, its principal, Kerry Sachetta, said “You see pictures of World War II, the devastation and all that with the bombing. That’s really what it looked like. I couldn’t even make out the side of the building.”

Joplin has a population of about 50,000.

President Barack Obama has ordered the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support state and local efforts in response and recovery. He issued a statement with condolences to the families of victims.

New York City — Actor Jerry Orbach died in his home in Manhattan at age 69. Orbach was a staple of American cinema, stage and television, with his most recent role being in the NBC police drama “Law and Order.”

Orbach is survived by his wife of 25 years, Elaine Cancilla, and his two sons Anthony and Christopher.

Orbach was born in the tough Bronx borough of New York City in 1935 to a family of entertainers. His father Leon Orbach was an vaudeville actor and his mother Emily Orbach was a radio singer and greeting card writer.

The family moved often to keep up with travelling Vaudeville acts, but eventually settled in Waukegan Illinois where Orbach played football at the local high school. After graduation, Orbach got a summer job at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling doing odd jobs ranging from stagecraft to small acting parts in plays.

He then studied drama at the University of Illinois before transferring to Northwestern where he studied the Stanislavsky Method of drama acting. In 1955, Orbach dropped out of college and moved to New York City where he got a job as an understudy in The Threepenny Opera.

Orbach continued to work in theater, eventually earning roles in broadway musicals, but by 1961 had grown dissatisfied with being typecast as a musical actor. He tried briefly to break into film without success, and eventually returned to broadway where he earned numerous accolades for his roles in such musicals as “Guys and Dolls” and “Chicago“.

Orbach finally broke into television in the 1980s as a recurring character in shows such as the mystery-drama “Murder She Wrote” and the hit sitcom “Golden Girls“.

He earned the lead role as the title character in his own short-lived series “The Law and Harry McGraw”, a spinoff of “Murder She Wrote”. Orbach also scored key roles in a few Hollywood films, including the action thriller “F/X”, and the dance-musical hit “Dirty Dancing”, but continued to find his mainstay in television crime dramas.

In 1990, he picked up a role in the new NBC crime drama “Law and Order” as the acerbic-witted Lennie Briscoe, a role which soon become a regular job. Orbach continued in this role in addition to movie roles and occasional musical appearances until his death this last week.

Orbach was diagnosed with Prostate cancer in Spring of 2004, a fact he kept private until November when he checked into New York’s Memorial Sloan-Ketting Cancer Center for treatment. In spite of the aggressive nature of the treatment, he died on the evening of December 28.

I wanted to pay less for electricity and I wanted to do something good for the ecosystem. I was under the impression that something like making a windmill was hard and required some type of extraordinary skill or teaching; thankfully I was in the wrong!

For a couple of years I had been hearing about people that were creating their own energy at home. I thought it was some type of bull, that is until I fell upon the Earth4Energy.com website. I read their web page then did some investigation. Among the many things I didn’t know was that E4E is the first business to put out a guide for home made electricity. Also I did not understand how inexpensive it is. Or that I could do a project like this with normal materials and that it would only take a couple of days.E4E’s plans, videos, and technical support for Making A Windmill was wexactly what I needed to succeed. I am happy to report that I have a beautiful looking windmill attached to my residence in the suburbs and it provides on average about 75% of the electricity for my house.Last month my electrical invoice was less than $20! Now this is for a 3100 square foot house. I bought everything I needed at that big box hardware store (with the orange sign) that is just down the street and all in all it cost me about $195 (including the $50 I spent on the guide). Now we don’t have to pay a contractor 1000’s; thank you E4E for making this product accessible.
